So, again it's been a while since I've regularly updated. I think that's in part because I start to feel like I'm saying the same things over and over again: "I'm trying", "I'm struggling", "I'm doing well".
Anyhow, I've been on and off this wagon more times than I'd like to admit, and I'm back in an "on" phase. I purchased a new digital scale, and I like using it a lot more than the old whirly one that I was using before (which I'm pretty sure was just making things up). I'm tracking my weight on a daily basis, and I'm starting to see some neat trends. Like, I'll gain 2-4 pounds and then, BAM! I drop again. It's kind of cool to see.
Despite the heat I'm trying to walk more. I don't think I'll get walking to and from work, or even to or from work anytime soon, but I am taking short 10 - 15 minute walks on my breaks through the day.
I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing, and I'm going to do my best to keep the blogging up, and to keep it fresh.
Until next time, kids!

Back on the Scale Today
So, it wasn't quite one month, but I stepped back on the scale today.
I had gained about 4 lbs, which I hadn't logged when I decided to take
my hiatus, and I'm happy to report that even with being sick for two
weeks, I've shed those 4 lbs plus one more. In total, I'm down 8 lbs.
Let's hope that slow and steady really does win the race.
I've started walking more again the past few days. I plan to keep this up and walk each day. Beginning April 8 I'll be back to working my earlier shift again and will begin walking home on a daily basis. I plan to do the same this coming week, but finishing a bit later, we'll see how that goes.
Going to keep moving, and hopefully with that the scale keeps moving downwards.

Sick, sick, and more sick
I've spent the past week feeling awful. Tired, achy, congested. Each day seemed to be worse and worse. Until today, that is. Today is the first day this week that I feel somewhat "normal", though nowhere close to healthy. I'm still stuffy. I'm still coughing. I'm still achy. I'm still tired. BUT, it's not as bad as yesterday, so that's something.. right?
Anyhow, since the beginnings of this dreadful virus I have had absolutely no energy to do anything. No walking. No Zumba. No keeping the house in a somewhat clean-ish state. It's been terrible.
Finally, I feel like I'm on the mend. I'm going to take it easy for another couple of days (breathing is difficult), and hopefully it won't take too long.

Just a random update
It's been a while, I know. I'm a terrible blogger. But then, I'm doing this for me and only me.
As far as weight goes I've been dancing around the same 6 or 7 pounds gained and lost. It's a little discouraging, to say the least. Instead of relying solely on the scale (which, I might add, tends to be a filthy liar) I have started taking measurements. I've also decided to step away from the scale for one month. One month to actually see a change, a month to get out of this loop that I seem to be in. If it works, well then maybe I'll continue on that path. At least I'm seeing a difference in the measurements.
Due to the cold, snowy weather this year I haven't been doing the daily walk home from work. I hope to get back to it when the weather is consistently nicer. Because of this, I picked up a new Walk Away the Pounds DVD (which I love) and I was given Just Dance 2 for the Wii for my birthday (for which the celebrations lasted for about 4 or 5 days of being naughty food-wise). Just Dance is SO much fun, and usually by the time I'm done playing I'm about covered in sweat. I recently borrowed a Zumba game as well, and am now eying that for my collection.
Not much else going on. I'm charging up the old FitBit to start using that on a daily basis too. Maybe then I can make sure I'm moving as much as I want to be.
I'll try to keep updated as I go through withdrawal from the scale.
Wish me luck.

To a New Year, and to New Beginnings
I'm starting over, from scratch. Each time I'd log in, I'd see lost progress and get all discouraged. I know, it seems silly really, because I can regain that progress and more. Something just sort of lingered at the back of my head that I'd failed.
It was a temporary slow down, not a failure. I'm better than that.
As you can see, I've reset my ticker on the side, and any loss showing will be from this point forward. No more lost progress, only new goals to meet.
This time I'm taking a little bit smaller steps, but the plan is the same: Some sort of exercise every day. Healthy eating. That's it.
My first goal will be to lose 10lbs. Then 25lbs. Then 50lbs. I'll keep making it up as I go, and I will get there. It will take me time, but I also know that it will not be time wasted.
I can do this. I will do this.

The Downward Spiral... I Hope..
So, after a week or so of fighting with the scale, I decided to brave it once again. I'm glad I did, I'm down another 2 lbs! I haven't weighed in again this week, but I hope to still be headed in the right direction.
In other news, I didn't make my walking goal for last month.. I've started a new one for November, but this time I decided to take it down a notch or two. Perhaps I have being a little too optimistic about how much walking I would do, and didn't take bad weather and other things into account. I've dropped 40 km from my goal, and will hopefully surpass it.
Ummm.. I think that's about it.

Dear Bathroom Scale..
Look, I don't like you, and I suspect you don't like me. I'd appreciate it then if, when I step on you in the morning, you could not lie to me. This morning you said I'd gained 4lbs since last week. This is not true, and we both know it. I know I had a "weekend of luxury", but I don't think I had so much "luxury" to gain 4lbs! You and I are not on the same page, and we somehow need to get there.
Tomorrow, or the next day we'll meet up again, and I hope that this time the news you have will be more agreeable. In the meantime, I'll keep doing what I'm doing and hope that you'll come around.
Until then, my mortal enemy.
Love,
Me
